Preserving Knowledge.
Supporting Africa's
Islamic Heritage.

From the sands of West Africa to the courtyards of Cairo and the coasts of Cape Town, Shinqit Press brings forth the untold stories of Islamic scholarship, poetry, and devotion across the continent.

Carrying the Light of Knowledge Forward

We publish works that reconnect Africa to its spiritual and intellectual lineage — from manuscripts written on camel hide to contemporary reflections born from the same light.

  • Unheard African Manuscripts — Works of scholars and poets from Mauritania, Timbuktu, Kano, and beyond
  • Faithful Translations — Bridging Arabic, Pulaar, Hausa, French, and English while preserving the soul of the original
  • Spiritual Narratives & Anecdotes — Stories that illuminate the heart and revive Prophetic character
  • Contemporary Works — Reflections, essays, and biographies inspired by African scholarship

"The ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr — for knowledge preserves what time would erase."

Educate · Nourish · Preserve

The name honours Mauritania's ancient centres of learning — where books were copied by hand, knowledge was memorised and lived, and caravans carried learning across the Sahara. Shinqit Publications continues that legacy for a new age, crossing digital frontiers to reach hearts around the world.

Every publication supports scholars and students in Mauritania, traditional learning institutions (Mahdharas), and the preservation of sacred knowledge.

One purchase. A thousand years of knowledge preserved.

A portion of all Shinqit Press proceeds goes directly to the Shinqit Foundation — a South African NGO working to preserve the Islamic scholarly heritage of Mauritania and the Saharan region before it is lost. The Foundation works with scholars, families, and local institutions to digitise manuscripts, support living scholars, and sustain the chain of transmission that has carried this knowledge for over a thousand years. When you buy a Shinqit Press book, you are not just adding to your library. You are part of that chain.
